]]>One such need is the climate change imperative. For those listening, warning bells have been ringing, throwing caution to the winds, if not literally, for a future that may not be as pleasant.
Read the inspiring story of Lorraine Allman, UK-based seasoned entrepreneur – who “listened” to the significant waste produced by the the party supplies industry. So she set out to lay the groundwork for “real change” with a YoKart powered marketplace – for a promising future with a business that has promise.
Ans: For the last 10 years or so, I’ve been working with families and educators, helping them nurture a Can-Do mindset in children through screen-free play. Whilst I’ve loved this work and have seen the positive impact it has had on children, families, and schools, I was feeling increasingly unsure as to the next steps for the business so took time out to think about what I wanted to do next. In particular, I reflected on the legacy that I will leave to help my son’s generation and generations to follow be better able to look after this planet. I realised I wasn’t really doing all that I could and it didn’t take me long to work out just how much of a significant contributor to waste, and plastic waste in particular the party supplies industry is. So I set about looking at ways to be part of the solution, rather than the problem, and the result is the Party Without Plastic® Marketplace!
Ans: Through my market research I identified the size of the party supplies market, and noticed the growth trend in areas such as sustainability. As children are increasingly learning through school about climate change and the damage plastics can do to our planet, I learnt of the struggle parents, and indeed anyone-else organising a celebration has in trying to source genuinely plastic products for their parties. It made sense to bring everything together into one marketplace that is a trusted one-stop-shop for everything plastic-free from tableware and decorations, to party bags, favours, gift wrap and much more.
Ans: I spent a long time assessing all the options for marketplace software currently available including monthly subscription models, but felt the Yo!kart software best suited my needs. A lifetime licence with just one fee payable for such a feature rich system makes it excellent value for money. We did need quite a bit of help getting up and running, including installing the software on our own server, and some adjustments to suit our particular requirements but the FatBit team were very supportive and helped us work this all through.
Ans: Initially it was difficult getting the software installed on our server. As a very small business I was fortunate to rely on the goodwill of people I knew to help me with this and liaise with the FATbit team. The system installation and set-up does require a certain amount of technical knowledge, and learning how it all works needed more time than I expected, but once we were up and running, I could see I’d definitely made the right decision.
Ans: In terms of my vision for the business, we expect the Marketplace to grow considerably over the next few years and aim to lead the way with a party essentials Marketplace containing only plastic-free products, transforming the convenience culture of celebrations into an easy, ethical choice for everyone. We envision a world where celebrations and gatherings are not only joyous occasions, but also environmentally responsible, revolutionising the way we celebrate, one plastic-free event at a time!
Ans: The thing about being an entrepreneur is there is no such thing as a typical day! This means you have to be flexible, resourceful, and of course resilient when things don’t quite go to plan. When launching a new business, not everyone will necessarily be supportive of you (for all sorts of reasons) but if you’ve done your market research and absolutely believe in what you’re doing, and have a clear vision for how you want the business to grow, stick with it. Surround yourself with positive thinkers and never be afraid to ask for help – we can’t be good at everything!
Ans: Overall, my experience with the Yo!kart team has been a positive one. It was helpful to have a dedicated contact that we could get to know and gave me continuity of support. We couldn’t quite get the marketplace launch over the line for the planned date, but the Yo!kart team always came back to me with responses. There was often a delay due to the 5 hour time difference, but we managed online calls and emails, and nothing was too much trouble.
Ans: I would recommend the Yo!kart software for businesses who want to be in charge of how their marketplace runs but don’t have deep pockets. It is a feature-rich system that has built-in scalability, and does everything the other more well-known generic marketplaces offer. Just make sure you factor in enough time to get everything set-up and get familiar with it!

]]>Let’s read on the Q&A session to delve into their exciting journey from a brick-and-mortar business to an online multivendor marketplace. Moreover, explore the challenges they faced and the strategic choices they made that propelled their success.
The choice of e-commerce was obvious to me. The world has evolved in the digital domain and users – customers want to be able to enjoy and occupy their free time other than in stores where they unfortunately cannot find what they want.
I come from the world of traditional commerce (purchasing/storage/logistics/shipping). This distribution model seems to me to be becoming more and more obsolete and complex at the same time.
Consumers increasingly want to buy online. The COVID-19 outbreak was an accelerator of this trend and today online purchasing has become a consumption habit among most French people.
The solution of a marketplace platform (multi-seller) was the best solution to offer users the greatest choice and the widest range of products possible and available without leaving home.
My job for 15 years was to wholesale plumbing, sanitary, and heating equipment. We had an extremely large range and product offering but it was impossible to have 100% of market demand.
The solution that we are putting in place and that we wish to provide with this marketplace is to be able to bring together all French manufacturers/wholesalers and distributors on a single platform to be able to offer end consumers, both professionals and individuals, a set of products that would cover 100% of needs at very competitive prices and shipped to them in less than 24 hours.
We were able to finalize our e-commerce solution after years of reflection and studies on user/consumer expectations.
We have also surrounded ourselves with the best partners in the digital world.
The expertise and experience of all the actors and stakeholders in the process of developing this platform was an incredibly effective source of creativity and performance.
We have now found a balance that allows us to be effective and efficient in producing the elements necessary for the growth of our platform and the success of our project.
We achieved our objectives later than we had planned in our forecast but we managed to satisfy our ambitions.
Our platform was designed to be fast, fluid, ergonomic, and easy to use. We provide as much information as possible so that users have enough details to be sure to find the products they need.
In addition, our commercial strategy allows us to offer the lowest prices on the internet with professional product quality and speed of delivery without counting the most important element which is service. We have provided a free hotline 24/7 to help users before, during, and after their purchases. We try to create a perfect model to satisfy everyone’s requirements.
From the start, the crucial point was to create the entire system and digital technology that met enormous functionality constraints. We spent more than 2 years developing and implementing this eCommerce platform.
We have launched continuous testing phases and are constantly seeking graphical, organic, ergonomic, and intuitive performance so that the user benefits from the best possible browsing experience. It’s daily work, a form of continuous quest for perfection.
The first sale is anecdotal! This was an order for 10 barb sprinkler fittings. So far nothing abnormal except that the product in this specific diameter was not available from our merchant!
We had not yet linked our inventory and dynamic stock system with that of our merchant.
In order not to disappoint our first customer and with a view and obsession with customer satisfaction, I myself traveled 120 km to Lyon to find these 10 fittings, I bought them with my credit card and I shipped them myself even in an emergency!
It was undoubtedly the least profitable of the sales but the customer was completely satisfied! Obviously, he didn’t know how much effort this entailed, but it was a rather comical situation!
It is thanks to unforeseen events like this that we are able to constantly perform better, improve, and innovate.
The plumbing/sanitary/heating market in France represents around 9 billion euros per year. We want to capture 0.5% of this market in the next 5 years and 3 to 5% of this market in the 15 years that follow.
If you are passionate, determined, and love the product, the technology, and the customer, then you will have the best basis for entrepreneurship. That said, the key word in an adventure like this is “Sacrifice”. Don’t be afraid to spend most of your time-solving complex puzzles! It is a work of endurance that can pay off over time but is only achievable if you are driven by a project that excites you.
We hope you find this journey of Clic & Pick with Yo!Kart inspiring and motivates you to ideate and launch your eCommerce marketplace.

]]>The decision to venture into eCommerce came from identifying the surging trend of online shopping and the opportunity to address niche-specific customer demands. The concept evolved through personal encounters with difficulties in finding specialized products online. This led to the vision of creating a user-friendly and specialized marketplace that bridges the gap between buyers and sellers and offers a diverse range of products simultaneously under one platform.
We executed thorough market research and analysis, including surveys and studying online consumer behavior to identify our target market. It allowed us to understand consumer preferences, pain points, and buying habits. This data-driven approach further helped us define our target audience based on demographics, interests, and location, enabling tailored marketing strategies that drive the right clientele to the platform.
After a thorough evaluation of available eCommerce solutions, we chose Yo!Kart for its robust features, scalability, and user-friendly interface. Our platform required a few customization needs and Yo!Kart covered all the bases including the flexibility to customize the platform to meet our business requirements and start an eCommerce platform without requiring any technical expertise. Ms. Akshita, our support partner throughout the journey, provided exceptional assistance in seamless integrations and platform customization, ensuring smooth platform functionality as we were expecting.
We set ourselves apart by emphasizing three key elements: a curated selection of high-quality niche products, individualized assistance, and delightful shopping experiences. We strive to deliver the best and most unique handpicked items that are rarely available on other platforms. Also, our platform has a user-friendly interface to ensure a smooth shopping journey for customers and prioritize customer satisfaction.
During the early phases, building brand presence and customer trust posed significant challenges for us. To tackle this, we devised a comprehensive marketing strategy, utilizing social media campaigns, influencer partnerships, and content marketing to showcase our distinct product catalogs. We also offered limited-time discounts and promotions to incentivize early adoptions. Through consistent fulfillment of promises and delivery of exceptional customer service, we earned the customer’s trust and loyalty over time.
Experiencing the first sale on our eCommerce platform was a moment of excitement. It reaffirmed the potential and success of our hard work, motivating us to continue striving for excellence and delivering exceptional products to our valued customers.
Our vision for the business in the next 5 years is to become a leading player in the industry, expanding our reach and customer reach globally. We aim to be recognized for our innovative product offerings, outstanding customer service, and seamless shopping experience. Additionally, we aspire to foster stronger partnerships with sellers and suppliers, further enriching our diverse product catalog and positioning our platform as the trusted and preferred destination for online shopping.
We want to share that this journey is both exciting and challenging. As someone who has experienced the highs and lows of running an eCommerce business, we would like to share some valuable advice and key aspects to consider to help aspiring eCommerce entrepreneurs on their path to success.
Always remember that persistence, continuous learning, and a customer-centric approach, all collaboratively contribute to thriving in the eCommerce space.

]]>Q. What was the inspiration behind choosing an e-commerce business? How did you come up with this idea?
I spent a major part of my childhood in Burundi (Central Africa). In the country, there was not a single (operating) e-commerce platform. In fact, I myself wasn’t aware of how online shopping actually works until I travelled to developed countries like the US and India where platforms like Amazon play such an important role in people’s lives.
Having a strong passion for adding value in people’s lives – and having experienced the value added by these (eCommerce) platforms through convenient access to a range of products in the market and the ease of those products getting home delivered, I felt the urge to introduce my own e-commerce platform and provide the same experience to the people of Burundi.
Q. How did you identify your target market?
Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world where around 50% of the population doesn’t have access to a smartphone, hence identifying the targeted market audience has been a huge task, causing most e-commerce startups not to be financially viable.
Online shoppers in the country are less than 5% due to the lack of know-how to use e-commerce platforms and hence our current goal is to not only explain the value added by our platform but also to teach how to utilize it. We are rigorously doing so by means of digital marketing and physical campaigns in order to expand our audience.
Q. How did you finalize the ideal eCommerce solution? Did you require any additional integrations or customizations?
I am not from a Computer Science background, so, I thoroughly researched to identify which solution to opt for – that would allow me to start and run an e-commerce platform without needing any additional training. And I found YoKart to be the best. YoKart is an overall complete solution for any e-commerce startup that provides most of the functionalities required to get started, Although, according to the location of the business operations, there are a few additional integrations that were required, such as local payment plugins, delivery tracker, messaging plugin and a few more. These were all provided and assisted to be incorporated by the YoKart team itself which facilitated the whole startup process.
Q. How did you define your Unique Selling Proposition for the users, to set yourself apart from established platforms in your niche?
We are one of the pioneers of e-commerce in Burundi, hence our USP is straightforward – Cheaper price & Home Delivery.
Q. What hurdles did you face initially? Can you share how did you overcome these hurdles?
E-commerce is still very new to the people of Burundi. They don’t rely on paying upfront for any product until they have their hands on it, hence we came up with Cash On Delivery model that helped us build trust with our customers.
Also, any e-commerce platform brings in most of its revenue through its subscription model but sellers in the country have a mental block for exposing their products and prices to the competition, so they are unwilling initially to come onboard. To navigate this challenge, we allowed sellers to first experience sales through our platform without paying a subscription fee, and only after that make a decision on whether they want to purchase a subscription or not.
Q. Can you share the experience of witnessing the first sale on the platform?
Witnessing the first sale made through my platform was like a dream come true. It felt like all the hard work is finally paying off. I still remember we charged no commission nor a delivery fee to our first customer and I myself fulfilled the delivery.
Q. What is your vision for the business going forward – let’s say 5 years down the line?
The vision of my company is to build an unparallel trust with our customers that allows them to completely rely on us for their daily purchases, while we assure them the best products at the cheapest prices and safe & timely delivery to their doorstep.
Q. What advice would you give to aspiring eCommerce entrepreneurs like yourself? Any tips/success mantra that you would like to share?
Any business takes a lot of work to bring about results. An e-commerce business is a huge setup that requires consistent work and patience. Majority of people lose their passion due to the high burden of work involved – instead, slow and steady growth is all that’s required. Never lose the passion which made you start the business in the first place.

]]>1. What was the inspiration behind choosing an e-commerce business? How did you come up with this idea?
The founders of Anyflexo have been in the flexo printing business for a couple of decades now. Over a period of time, they realized that the industry is very traditional and digitalization is slow – that’s how they came up with an idea of an e-marketplace for the industry. This would help in increasing transparency, smoother exchange of information and faster growth in business for small and medium-sized players in the industry.
2. How did you identify your target market?
The Founders of the marketplace have decades of experience and expertise of the industry. They have in-depth knowledge of the target market.
3. How did you finalize on the ideal eCommerce solution? Did you require any additional integrations or customisations?
We had two/three main criteria to fulfil before making a decision. That’s how we selected Yo!Kart ― It checked most of the important boxes on our checklist. It pretty much had the standard features a marketplace should have, however, some customisation was needed to match our industry and organisational requirements. For instance, the platform was customized to change the font, aligning it to our branding requirements.
4. How did you define your Unique Selling Proposition for the users, to set yourself apart from established platforms in your niche?
Our platform is the first of its kind in the industry, and this first-mover advantage is its most significant USP.
5. What hurdles did you face initially? Can you share how did you overcome these hurdles?
Solving the chicken and egg dilemma in the marketplace was our major challenge. This means balancing the seller-to-customer ratio, and whom to approach first at the start. To solve this we started approaching both together but quickly realised it is fairly easy to convince the seller as sales via the e-marketplace added an extra sales channel to their business. Another reason to prioritize sellers was that they are the main source of our earnings, so that is why we first focused a little bit more on sellers than buyers. Once we had a specific number of sellers we then focused heavily on sales to customers, thus solving the chicken and egg dilemma.
6. Can you share the experience of witnessing the first sale on the platform?
Yes. It was very satisfying! – After the sale was completed we requested feedback on the customer experience and it was very positive.
7. What is your vision for the business going forward – let’s say 5 years down the line?
To be able to operate and serve customers on a global level.
8. What advice would you give to aspiring eCommerce entrepreneurs like yourself? Any tips/success mantra that you would like to share?
At the start be open to pivoting on your predetermined business strategies, as this might open unseen target markets and opportunities.

]]>We started this company in the beginning of March 2020. The initial plan was to create a brand of supplements with CBD(own product) in it. Financial reasons were the reason for starting with this business model 一 a multi-vendor platform with our product in it and other vendors with CBD to sell on the platform.
It is the best decision we have made so far and especially choosing Yo!Kart was a very good decision.
Initially, when I was researching about a multi-vendor platform, it felt intimidating to me with the options available, choosing the right one for my business idea, and the varying opinions and suggestions about the same.
I chose Yo!Kart because of the platform itself and decided to try it out. I have no regrets. Everything has panned out perfectly.
2-4 years down the line I hope the website (suggestion alternate:business) is running smoothly. I hope we have a very good customer base. We are able to meet consumers’ demands and meet vendors’ demands. I have created a platform wherein everyone can buy CBD, grow the industry.

In the US, the varying legislation behind selling in various states can be very difficult to navigate. We do, however, plan on selling in the entire United States as long as local and federal regulations apply.
Selling outside of the United States is something we will have to look into more. However, I do wish to sell outside of the US in the future as well.
Yes, I would advise businesses to make sure you read all the legislation very carefully, prior to starting it.
Before all this when it was just an idea, it all seemed very easy, I started to look into particular things (specificities) of this industry. In this industry there is one thing you can do and three things you can’t, So I would just advise doing as much research as you can, trying to make the best decisions possible, and being ready for bumps in the road.
I would say the biggest difference was the way I was treated as a possible user of the Yo!Kart platform.
As soon as I was in contact with Abhishek (FATbit team), the experience was more than just getting a platform and I need people to do it, Rather its become more of a friendship because Abhishek and I go back and forth a lot, we talk a lot, happy new year, merry Christmas, and things like that.
The personal experience (with the software) is I would say ease of access, the admin panel is very efficient.
On our platform, at the moment we just have one product, the main goal is to attract as many vendors as possible within the CBD industry
I have a statement from my business partner “Your team has been a major part in helping us achieve our goal, and through their determination and hard work, we are close to finishing our website. I have only received respect and care through/from your team and they have helped us learn and better our company”

]]>
Response: Initially, when planning a project in Namibia, it has to be noted that Namibia is a developing country with a small population of approximately 2.5 million people.
Little interest existed from international online retailers to unlock the Namibian online shopping opportunity. As a result, we embarked on the journey to develop an in-house eCommerce multi-vendor business based on a white-label solution.
After extensive research, Yo!Kart was found to offer the most suitable solution.
Response: eCommerce was deemed to be a visionary fit, as a result, DotDune wanted to implement a solution providing Namibian buyers, sellers, and vendors with an opportunity (Internally or Externally) to conduct business online with the vision of becoming Namibia’s leading eCommerce platform.
Response: The first sale was a small item but witnessing the sale register and the same getting displayed on the Yo!Kart Admin dashboard was a moment that we cherished and celebrated as a team.
It was a moment that culminated and fructified our months of conceptualizing, planning, implementing, and testing. Furthermore, upon engagement, the customers responded with positive feedback ― assuring us of a bright future.
Response: We crafted a 5-year strategy aspiring to become Namibia’s leading eCommerce marketplace by 2025. The strategy is summarized in our internal game plan consisting of milestones and overall deliverables to be achieved by 2025.
Response: Namibia is a large geographical country with a small population of 2.5 million people (2020). As a result of the low population density, cost-effective parcel delivery remains the greatest opportunity.
To grow the business and to achieve our overall objectives and key deliverables, certain tools are required – I am very happy to say that this is why I appreciate working with you guys so much that even though we have all these challenges, the response is never like no it cannot be done the response is always ok how can we do this how can we fix this how can we make this work.
Response: Speak to FATbit, they’ll help you
There are many large businesses in Namibia however there is a major lack when it comes to technological transformation. Embracing technological change remains the largest opportunity amongst larger organizations in Namibia. Among larger businesses. My advice to other businesses would be to look into being open-minded towards technological change and embracing technology change to a new extent, be it eCommerce or online marketing, you need to embrace the latest technology or else your business will eventually fail.
Response: I think for DotDune, apart from the targets, the biggest plan is to customize and scale the platform and bring it to a world-class standard like Amazon(worldwide) or Takealot in South Africa.
Next is – improving the logistics like completing deliveries with electric vehicles. Additionally, we are looking at warehousing and want to adapt our system to stock and inventory management and also offer warehousing services to our vendors.
In essence, the future plans for DotDune will be focusing on customizing the platform, streamlining deliveries, and adding a warehouse
Response: Namibia is unique compared to the rest of the world, hence, platforms require substantial customization, and no solutions offer a plug-and-play solution. Regardless of the request, FATbit has always been very helpful and accommodating with responses such as “Let’s figure it out” or “We’ll make it work”. The DotDune team appreciates all efforts thus far.
Response: Suggestions – From an improvement basis, I would suggest when you offer a Whitelabel solution, do not offer the same product to everyone at the same price, rather offer a basic solution, a mid-range solution, and a fully customizable solution. That is something that I would prefer. Also, invite your clients to come to visit your offices.
